All on 4 Dental Implants
What does the all on 4 treatment involve?
The treatment involves placing 4 titanium screws in your jaw. If we have adequate stability then dentures can be fixed onto them. Dr Ragu will work closely with your referring dentist or specialist restorative dentist to fit you with a denture soon after the procedure.
Why do I need treatment?
Instead of wearing loose dentures, that fall out when you laugh, talk and eat, you can have a denture which is fixed into your jaw.
In addition, if you have badly broken teeth and you are not satisfied with the appearance of your smile, then an ‘All on 4’ solution may be suitable for you.
Who is a good candidate for all on 4 Dental Implant?
If you have badly broken, damaged or decayed teeth that are not fixable then an ‘All on 4’ may be a good cost effective treatment option.
If you don’t want removable dentures then an ‘All on 4’ option may be a treatment option for you.
Where will I have my surgery?
Your surgery will be performed in a private hospital in Canberra under a general anaesthetic.
How long is the recovery after All on 4 Dental Implant surgery?
There is generally some discomfort after the procedure, however this is minimised with the local anaesthetic that is administered at the time of the operation and also by the pain medications that will be prescribed by Dr Ragu.
If you are anxious or scared - don’t worry! Dr Ragu will help you overcome your fears and reduce your anxiety.
Common post-surgical complications include:
Bleeding- this can be minimised by placing some gauze in the area with pressure.
Bruising- this can be common after the surgery and will disappear after a few days.
Restricted diet- we recommend a soft food diet after the surgery.
Stiff jaw- this generally occurs because your mouth has been opened for the duration of the procedure. Gentle stretching exercises and anti-inflammatories can help alleviate this.
